My friend Luke lives in Houston. This is his house...note the tree that has lopped off the top of it. Fortunately, he and his wife Pam evacuated well before the storm hit. As my grandmother says, "Better it than you."
One hopes that our legal system is strong enough to force insurance companies to pay out claims for things like this, seeing as that's what insurance is for in the first place. And if not, let's hope emergency funding is made available for all the people who have lost property or been injured.
In any case, our thoughts are with Luke, and we all hope not too much got destroyed.
