Budget balacing - the reality

Matt Yglesias sums up a recent multi-think-tank study on balancing the budget. The proposals in the plan re pretty reasonable. But, as Yglesias points out, there is no discussion of either raising taxes or cutting defense spending. And it's becoming increasingly clear that balancing the budget will require doing one or both of those things.
