Get pissed, de-stroy

Via Brian Beutler, I find that Joe the Plumber was invited to give a talk about the economics of the stimulus package at a meeting of Republican congressional aides.

As it happens, Ry also sent me a nice little right-wing rant about how Republican is the new Punk Rock. Well, punk rockers prided themselves on not being able to play their instruments, and Republicans pride themselves on not knowing about economics. The analogy seems pretty apt.

In any case, it's pretty obvious why Joe the Plumber is now a resident Republican economist. The message is "We don't need to know any of your stupid elitist academic crap, as long as we shit-kickin' blue-collar white guys stick together and follow each other's tribal folk wisdom." It didn't win in '08, but until they think of something better, punk rock it is.
