The new head elephant

Looks like Michael Steele won. I applaud the choice, given the alternatives. There's plenty I could say about the implications of the vote, but I'm going to give all the remaining Republicans the benefit of the doubt and go ahead and wish the man well.

(wonder how him and Rush are gonna get along, though...)

edit: this is pretty fascinating. Duncan dropped out after round 3, despite being the clear #2. The majority of his supporters shifted to Dawson. Blackwell hung in there for quite a while, waiting for support that didn't come. Knowing nothing about the deliberations besides this chart, I can't say for certain what happened here. But what appears certain is that, given the choice between two black candidates, one a far-right cultural conservative and the other a moderate, the majority chose the moderate, though a large plurality of the remaining Bushies (Duncan's people) ended up hanging in there for the white guy who does nothing for them with minorities.
