300

The entire world wants Barack Obama to win. Every major newspaper has endorsed him. He's easily ahead in the national polls. The weight of history and the urgency of the moment are both on his side.

John McCain's last hope is that this mighty, mighty tide will break on the rock of Pennsylvania. The state went for Hillary in a surprise upset in the primaries, a result many attributed to racist attitudes, especially in the southwest Appalachian region of the state. The fact is, though, Pennsylvania has voted Democratic in every election since Reagan, and this is a Democratic-trending year.

So if Obama loses the election, it'll be because of a few Pennsylvania racists. The 300, if you will.
