A local California GOP women’s organization’s most recent newsletter claims that if Obama is elected, his face will appear on food stamps, rather than dollar bills like other presidents. The group then included a picture of “Obama Bucks” — a phony $10 bill with Obama surrounded by racist imagery:

The president of the organization, Diane Fedele, didn’t understand the charges of racism: “I didn’t see it the way that it’s being taken. I never connected. It was just food to me.” One African-American member of the club said that upon seeing the newsletter, she “cried for 45 minutes.” “This is what keeps African-Americans from joining the Republican Party,” she added.

Sigh. Real classy, California GOP.

Now here's a question though. Why do racists make fun of black people for supposedly liking foods like fried chicken and watermelon? Those foods are totally delicious. Is there any sentient person who doesn't like fried chicken (Little known fact: the Japanese traditionally eat KFC on Christmas. No lie.)??? If you met someone who didn't like watermelon, would you think that person was normal?

Basically, racist white people are making fun of black people for liking foods that are good. What's next? Ha ha Italians, you like lasagna? Neener neener Mexicans, you like carne asada? The horror! The cruelty!

You know who likes really bad food? Old Jewish people. Brisket? Gefilte fish? Now that's stuff worth ridiculing.
