Some people have complained that the finance industry has been sucking in far too many of America's best and brightest, moving them from careers that create value (technology, engineering) into a field that destroys value by creating and selling bullshit. Well, if that's true, it may be about to change.

Speaking of renewing America's technological competitiveness, it's being recognized more and more that we suck at math, and that we need to stop sucking at math. For decades, our educational establishment seems to have assumed that only a few special geniuses could do math. Everybody else got dumbed-down slop. Now, thankfully, that may be about to change.

If there's any reason to believe in America's future after all the setbacks we've suffered this decade, it's that we always seem to be willing to buckle down and work hard when decline is staring us in the face.
