Hey rich folks, want a cookie?

Matt Yglesias gives details of Romney's economic policy proposals...basically a ton of tax cuts for the rich.

Hmm, maybe Romney read that WSJ article the other day about how the GOP is losing its business base...

I'm not sure if this pandering to rich people - by basically offering them big fat sacks of money - will work. Rich people like to "earn" their money just like working-class people, which is why people like minimum wages better than handouts. And Republican economic policies are bad for business. Romney and other Republicans are basically offering rich folks a bigger slice of a smaller (future) pie. If they vote Republican, successful businesspeople get lower taxes, but they also get a huge deficit, continuing war, and lack of investment in education and infrastructure, all things that will clobber American business in the possibly-not-so-long run.

I think there's a good chance businesspeople won't take the cookie this time.
